WHAT ARE THE PROGRAM ACTIVITIES?

Group meetings and conversations
Conversations with community members of different ages will help create an understanding of local environments, food and socio-cultural norms, as well as how these have changed over time.

Visits to farms
A team with experience in identifying species of local plants, fungi and animals will visit some families to develop a list of all the species present. Some photographs will be taken, but samples will not be collected.

Questionnaires and interviews with families
Trained community members will interview men and women to gather information on agricultural practices. A separate questionnaire will collect information on their agroforestry activities, housework and food preparation, and time use.

Technologies to measure the use of time
A small number of women will be able to choose, if they want and are interested, to participate in their own measurement of the use of their time during a day, through the use of proven methods

Body measurements

Trained nutrition personnel will measure the height and weight of women and children under 5 years of age in two study moments.
